Fake Gods Diary - Saturday 26 November

One week away from recording our first batch of songs and, suffice to say, a busy week lies ahead. We're very satisfied with the material written so far, and aim to spend the next few days putting the icing on the cake, so to speak.

Songs are strange things, slippery customers. Just when I think I've nailed one, something will stand out that doesn't seem quite right and i'll dissect it. This will happen time and again and can make it a very frustrating process. The sense of satisfaction with a finished song makes it all worthwhile though. I guess that's just the nature of the beast.

River Detectives - 'King Of The Ghost Train Ride'

I'm all for supporting local talent and The River Detectives ever-awaited third record was released recently and is well worthy of your attention. 'King Of The Ghost Train Ride' features ten beautifully crafted songs in the mould of their first two albums 'Saturday Night, Sunday Morning' and 'Elvis Has Left The Building', released several years ago. It's good to see them back on the scene and they're playing a few gigs around Glasgow soon. I recommend you catch them if you like acoustic folk-based rock with beautiful harmonies.

Fake Gods Diary - November 10th, 2005

The writing process is gathering momentum with four songs fairly well developed. Tonight we met to add music to the lyrics and the session was very productive. The songs are tentatively entitled 'My Last Bottle', 'Shattered', 'Half-life' and 'Leaving Odessa'. We will be recording our first demos on 2/3 December and putting three tracks from the session, two originals and one cover version, onto our website (www.fakegods.com). We hope to follow this by producing a CD with around eight songs by the end of the year.

Fake Gods Diary - 1 November 2005

Another "promoter" has contacted us via e-mail. Apparently she heard that we play a 'mean acoustic set' and wants to witness this herself. Quite how she found that out remains a mystery. Maybe word-of-mouth really does work. More likely she visited our website, read our gig page and drew her own conclusions in the hope of extracting money from us. Cynical or realistic? Time will tell.
